Wasn't at all familiar with this plant. Another indication of how we should be looking into all indigenous medicines for their health benefits.

A member of the coffee family, this sure looks like it belongs there.

I see this species is related to ipecac (Psychotria ipecacuanha aka Cephaelis ipecacuanha) and related to one of the components in Ayahuasca, Psychotria viridis.

So many healing plants out there yet to be discovered by "modern" medicine.
