Hitchhiker
This morning I took my early morning garden walk in bare feet as I usually do. As I came inside I felt something funny on my foot. Thinking I had stepped on the random rabbit turd on the floor (you rabbit owners know what I mean) I ignored it for a minute. When it lingered I looked down to find I had been walking around with a piece of Peppermint stuck between my toes!
Gardening. I LOVE it!

Oh, I am so glad it was just peppermint. When I read the title I thought it might be something gross like a slug. I'm really freaked out by slugs.
-
I was thinking some kind of bug or creepy crawly as well. lol Too cold here but other places still have them out and about.

Your story brought up a childhood memory: Running barefoot down the pebbly lane to a lake, one rock seemed especially sharp. I shook my foot while still running, but the pain didn't go away. I finally lifted my foot to look and saw a large, fuzzy gray spider hanging there. Although terribly afraid of bugs, I ripped the spider off with bare hands and proceeded on. Later my Mom had to remove the spider's mouth parts from my toe. (I am getting deja vu, so my apologies if I told this story here before.)

@shllnzl Holy Smoke - I am thankful for the mundane in my life, I guess!!! LOL

@monica197 random rabbit turd would have been my first thought l too. After you said not that, my next thought was like @torey a slug or something. I'm glad to hear that it wasn't something bad! Thanks for sharing the story.
@shllnzl your story made my skin crawl! I don't mind spiders at a distance.
My morning surprise while out feeding the ducks was not as fun. I was not barefoot by the way, it's way too cold here. It is just above freezing. I bumped the leg of a canopy and ice cold water poured down my back! If I wasn't awake before that, I am now!
-
@torey I was fully expecting her to say it was a slug too. 😄
They gross me out, give me the heebie jeebies.😝
-
my first thought was a woodtick sunce you were barefoot, and here it is in the 40s

@Michelle D OH NO!! I hope you were close t the house!
Sorry for the clickbait everyone! That was not intentional. After reading all of your posts I guess I am thankful it was only a piece of peppermint! LOL
-
To me the peppermint would be preferable to the rabbit turd. I would be concerned about a tick. And in my yard, I would probably get a blackberry or rose thorn in my foot. Why I don't go out in the yard barefoot! And then there are the thistles.

Hazards of the trade...right? @marjstratton

I never walk outdoors barefooted since I moved to Alabama 34 years ago. Snakes! We do have them, but I rarely see them nowadays. Actually, I rarely walk barefoot even in my house. But outside, never.

@monica197 Well, this "hitchhiker" made me smile.....After all, it is that time of year! lol
