gourds gourds and more gourds
I just love gourds. I blame it or credit it to my dad.
I grow them for sponges, crafts and a few to eat. And they are just fun and make for good garden stories.
Here is a gourd I did a few years make, decoupage. I made it for dried flowers and as wall art.
I have two cut and ready to craft.
Question. Has anyone notice there are few gourd varieties to purchase? There about 2/3's less than 10 years ago

That is really pretty. I have not noticed a decrease in variety. I wonder - do you think that they are 'out of fashion' in the garden and then the varieties dwindle?
They make such neat bird houses and such!
How do you cut the holes in them?

There are so many uses for gourds both as utensils and for crafting.
How I cut a gourd depends on the dried gourd skin. Some are thin and a utility knife can be used and some are so thick you need a jig saw to cut them
For the holes I use a drill top start a hole. If its think I use a knife to complete it and if its thick I use a drilland the attachment that makes a larger hole. They make a professional smooth hole.

I love gourds. Just with they would grow in Alaska.

That's lovely, @Monek Marie.
Have you made any into utensils? I'd love to see some if you have.☺️

I enjoyed this interview and seeing what can be done with gourds.
