Show 67: Herbs for Urinary Stones and Infections

Good discussion. So many people have issues with UTIs. Lots of plants to assist.
As I am starting to learn about grasses (I really don't know much, except for a few common ones like corn silk and oats), I am finding that many of them have an affinity to the urinary system as well as the skin.
So many of the members of the Ericaceae family are useful for anything to do with the bladder or kidneys. Something I learned about the differences is that Pipsissewa is better suited to children than something more tannic like Uva Ursi.
One other thing worth mentioning is marshmallow. It is an awesome herb to have as an adjunct to some of the other herbs you have discussed. It is so soothing to the mucous membranes and can calm down some of the pain and burning associated with UTIs.

Oh dang - yes, I should have mentioned marshmallow! I also screwed up my Latin syntax... oh well.

I never noticed. I think you do very well with Latin.
One of my homeopathic teachers is from Europe and speaks Latin beautifully. And not just the plant names. Almost musical.

Thanks! But, I think I'd better hold off on forming whole sentences until I get a little more practice with it. For instance, I can say that hortus means garden, without saying something like "Ego in hortum laboro"

I used to have uti's about every 2 mo. After research, I started using d-mannose, 1/2 tsp. a day in water. Have had no infections in 15 yr. now. I think most everyone is different, what works with me, may not work with another person.
