Roses from Cuttings

I miss my 12 rose bushes back in Granddaddy had a rose garden that he was proud of. I always think of him when I see roses. (He would clean his crappie and catfish and add the remains to the roses. I think that's why they grew so well!)

I have a heirloom rose bush growing in my yard I love it. Once it got established it pretty much naturalized and is doing really well without any special care.

I miss having roses around and don't care much for the new varieties that have no smell. I remember the roses my mother grew. It was heaven to walk through the area where they were planted. I loved sitting out there in the summer and reading.

I got roses last year and love them. I can't remember the variety, but they do have a scent to them.

My dad was able to get rose cuttings to root by covering them with the top of soda bottles, at night he would put the lid on and during the day take the cap off which created a mini greenhouse.
