Today was baking day!

There was no cheese in the press, and it is blowing the snow around like crazy outside, so yeast breads were baked today!
We watched some Scrumpdillyicious videos on YouTube and the youngest decided to make these beautiful pieces of art. There are bows, butterflies & roses. Some have raspberry jam some are cinnamon-sugar filled.
Her favorites to make are the butterflies. I like the roses.

Those are beautiful! Great job. They look fun to make and I bet my family would like to eat them too.
I spent a large portion of the day yesterday baking yeast breads also. I love baking bread. A regular customer (quickly becoming a friend) of my husband's found out that I bake "real" bread as he put it. He asked if I would bake some for him. I made my favorite seed and nut bread and my simple whole grain sandwich bread for him.

Those look soooo yummmmy!😋

@LaurieLovesLearning it must be so satisfying to teach & watch your kids grow & blossom. What a great thing to do & great skills to have for one so young. Really nice memories for them, down the track.

So creative and the results look really yummy :)

@Michelle D That's awesome! It's always fun baking for someone who appreciates the work.
@JodieDownUnder She even scaled down our recipe to make two buns before these, so she used her math skills in a very practical way. She told me that the quail eggs worked to scale down the chicken egg portion. I was very proud of her.
After the scaled down recipe, we proceeded to make a double batch. This is half of what was made that day.
@annbeck62 We had a few. They were tasty. 😋
We will be taking some to a friend's house this weekend for them to enjoy too. 😄 I was firmly told by the young baker that we can only take some. The rest is for us.

I LOVE these butterflies! I used to be called the Bread Lady at a previous church. It is all I can do to make 5# very few days. The batch today is half gone: one set of hot pockets for lunch, one sat on the cutting board all afternoon and “melted away”, and one disappeared out the door when a son came home for supper from his farm job. You’ve gotta say “My pleasure !” and repeat, repeat.
-
@bettelee62 Thanks! It would be fun if you'd share some of your recipes!
Those sons...and a farm job too...he will be hungry!
-
They look incredible! I bet they tasted as good or better than they looked. Please do ask the baker if we could have her (or your) recipe. 😍:)
-
Here is the recipe.
I will try to find the videos & update this post when I find them.
This has at least 2 of them. Let me know if it has the bow too.
We would have loved doing the Nut filled ones, but that type of filling needs an awful lot of nuts. That would call for an extra special occasion!

What an art form. What a gift you and your children have.

These are so Beautiful!

@vickeym The baker was honored to have been asked. She had a pretty big smile. 😁
-
@LaurieLovesLearning Oh my--beautiful!! I don't know how old your youngest baker is, but she is welcome here anytime! Thanks for posting.
-
They are beautiful! You could make edible bow-ties with these (a fancy tie and a snack for later 😂).
-
Thank you @LaurieLovesLearning for sharing the recipe!
-
Those are beautiful! I love it when you (not you personally :) can take something you've watched on the internet and then do it yourself! She did an amazing job!
-
@COWLOVINGIRL lol
It is rewarding when it actually works. I'm sure the video makers tend to pick their best to showcase.
I will pass that on to her.
You should try doing these...or maybe some other bread or pastry art and show it off here for us. We'd love more ideas!
It is quite simple & fun to do these fancy looking things.

Sounds good! Maybe this weekend!
-
Beautiful work. I made yeast bread and cinnamon rolls today. Hard to keep my weight down when I make them.
-
Awesome skills for one so young. Maybe a future as a star baker?
-
@MissPatricia I agree!
@RustBeltCowgirl Possibly. At the very least, if she enjoys it and is creative, it will serve her well personally for the rest of her life. 😄
-
These look like so much fun to make! Kudos to the little one’s imagination who made the delicious snacks. The butterflies and bows! are beautiful !
