    I have heard many times from many people that preserving the eggs in lime is called water glassing. According to this article water glassing uses a different solution. I guess I learned something new. Ultimately, it really doesn't matter what you call it as long as you do it correctly. The ratios of lime to water listed in this article are also different than what I have heard. I will have to do more research into that to make sure that I do it correctly! If anyone has successfully used lime to preserve eggs I would love to hear about it.

    @Michelle D It does address lime & whatever the other additive to water was. I found that interesting as well.

    Maybe it is worth trying both things & ratios to see what works best.

    @LaurieLovesLearning that is a good idea. I did buy some of the food grade lime and container hoping to have enough eggs from my ladies to need it. I just have to wait for the eggs.
