Keeping billy the kid from breeding

Hi there y'all, we are still awaiting the shipping of the burdizzo tool. So it may be banding the boys. We are selling one billy and he is so handsome we may leave intact whilst awaiting his sale to a new home. OR I may take him to auction this weekend.

The question is, how do you seperate your intact bucks from your does?

Anyone using a buckapron?

Thanks for your suggestions and feedback. Much appreciated. :)

Never seen one of these before. I can see it getting really dirty and stinky quickly. And as it says in the article, its not 100% effective even when it does fit properly.

If these were my goats, I'd be banding them ASAP and not waiting for the burdizzo tool. Its really a simple process. The younger you do it, the easier it is on the animals.

Yeah, that was my concern. How icky the apron would be.

Banding is taking place this weekend. Perhaps later we can order the tool for future bucks. I really like how it seems more humane and doesn't require additional purchases.

    Thank you.

@Hassena I've done some inquiring with neighbours. I'm told, if you are going to use a clamping tool, have someone with experience show you how to do it a few times before you try it yourself. It can be tricky getting the cord and clamping it completely. There is the possibility of not completing the job. It takes quite a bit of force.
