rumex?
Hello, this plant is growing in several places in my garden. Three different apps all tell me that it is a rumex, but each app suggests a different species. Does anyone know what this is? Thank you!

Definitely looks like a Rumex species but have no idea which one. Not any of the species in my garden nor any of the wild ones here either.
Rather odd that some of the leaves have red veining and others are completely green.

@torey Yes, it is interesting, and there is a lot of it growing around. As I said, all the apps that I check have a different opinion. I just want to make sure that it is safe to eat before adding it to a salad. 😁

I've looked at a bunch of pics of Rumex species. I think this might be R. obtusifolius. Says it is widely established in Japan. Best bet would be to take it to a university botany department and see what they say.

@torey Thank you for putting so much work into looking into it for me. Maybe it is r. obtusifolius.
