Medicinal Trees: Mimosa and Serviceberry

Comments
-
Well, I can't grow Mimosa but Saskatoons are one of the most common berries we have in my area. We pick buckets of them every year. Makes a wonderful pancake syrup. Saskatoon vinaigrette. Muffins, pies.
-
I need to utilize the serviceberries more. I use a lot of mimosa.
-
I am so annoyed that I had a mimosa at my last home and had no idea it was medicinal. I may decide to plant one here, but I would have to be prepared to weed away all those baby trees that would result.
It is also a very pretty tree, but I know it can be invasive in the south.

Mimosas are no big deal if you mow around them. Even if you don't though, most little saplings don't survive beyond 6 inches tall.
-
I can't wait until my mimosa starts to flower, I remember you earlier article about using them as a sweetner!
