We have lots of these bushes in our area just into ravines.

The species we have here in my area is Shepherdia canadensis. S. argentea is grown here as a landscape plant (according to my plant atlas) but I've never seen one.

Do the First Nations in your area use the berries to make "Indian Ice-cream" @LaurieLovesLearning? Its a really popular dish here but I think they put far too much sugar in it for my taste. Basically, its whipped berries with sweetener added. Whips up like a meringue.

These berries are really good for adding to a water bottle when out hiking. Just a tablespoon of the berries, gives you vitamins, minerals and electrolytes.

Maybe its only the S. canadensis species that is able to be whipped.
