Very interesting history lesson on Brunswick stew.
You've pretty much covered St. John's wort but I'd like to add a bit of info on Hypericum as a homeopathic remedy. It is used quite a bit in first aid. One of the first things to think of for puncture wounds to the extremities (animal bites, nails through the finger, big slivers, etc.) and for damage to the coccyx bone (tail bone). Damage to any body part that has a big cluster (ganglion) of nerves.
Glad you gave the cautions about chronic or severe depression.
