A bit different Christmas tree

Do you know what species of holly this is, Judson? Its got quite a different growth habit that the ones I am used to seeing.
It certainly makes a good Christmas tree.
-
I am not sure. It is native here. I will try to find out. THey grow up to 50 feet tall and are quite pretty
-
Nice tree! Merry Christmas! Our cats would love your tree. 😉
-
A lovely tree! This year we are having a traditional Tannenbaum - a Christmas tree. @kbmbillups1 our two cats are new and this will be their first Christmas tree. I wonder how they will behave 😉
-
@jowitt.europe You may want to add a hidden tie-down to your real Christmas tree: Cats will try to climb and/or scratch on the trunk of a living tree, and can succeed in knocking the tree down. I use an artificial tree and hang unbreakable ornaments on the lower foot of the tree because of my cats. (I gave up on real greenery because the pine scent doesn't disburse in our dry climate.)
-
That's different. It reminds me a bit of the tree from A Charlie Brown Christmas. 😉
-
@judsoncarroll4 good choice. It looks great.
My son went a different route for his tree this year also.
I think he did a good job. I think this one would hurt any cats that tried to climb it.
-
@judsoncarroll4 the tree looks great! I haven't seen a holly like that before!
-
@jowitt.europe Good luck! When one of our cats was a couple years younger she even climbed our fake tree! She did that for several years. We couldn't put anything breakable on it. Our other two play with the ornaments so I put bells at the bottom. That way I can hear when they're under the tree.
-
I think I'd like to watch a cat climb that tree. 😂 It could be quite entertaining!
-
@kbmbillups1 @LaurieLovesLearning @shllnzl I already asked my husband to tie the Christmas tree to the ceiling. Hopefully the ropes will hold the weight of two cats 😂
-
@Michelle D what a creative boy! No, the cats would not like the BANG 😊
-
@judsoncarroll4 I also love your holly Christmas tree! I would love to see a 50 ft. holly tree!
-
... I have one at least that size in the yard.
-
We had a tiny tree this year seeing as the flooring is not finished yet and space is limited.
But my kids enjoyed it. Next year we'll no longer be "camping" downstairs in the basement but living like normal people, so we'll get to have our house decorated and the tree up.
-
I think a Holly tree would be appropriate. Just have to be careful decorating it. I have put holly in my wreaths that I have made in past years.
-
For those with cats, I wonder if buying some small balloons and hanging them (blown up of course) on the lower branches or tying one of the long ones wound around the trunk would help. Might scare everyone else at first too. But should scare the cats enough to stay away.

I came across these memes, enjoy.

Omg, the Holly tree is so pretty with its decorations!

Thanks!
