How to treat a salivary gland infection

My DIL has a salivary gland infection, I am looking for non invasive methods to treat it. I remember reading years ago, that Marjorie had several infections that were treated in the hospital and then she decided to treat it holistically and she was successful. Anyone remember how she treated it?

Hi @jeant.edwqrds7. Welcome to the forum discussions.

You may be thinking of the snake bite infection that Marjory had. Her husband had a similar one and was treated in the hospital but she treated herself at home.

However, not all infections are treated similarly. So what worked for her in that case might not work for a salivary gland infection. For one thing, she was able to poultice the snake bite which was an important part of the treatment. Its a difficult matter to get a poultice on the salivary glands.

If you go to TGN's store you can purchase the video that Marjory made with Doug Simmons, "Treating Infections Without Antibiotics". It comes with an E-book on the Top 25 Disaster Herbs and a couple of videos. Its on sale right now.

What is the medical treatment and prognosis? How did she get the infection?

Yes, I remember the snakebite too! But, this was actually a salivary gland infection or stone, story. I just hoping to help my DIL avoid antiobiotics and have never treated a salivary gland infection in my family before.

She just devoted a tenderness at the site and we both agreed that it was likely a salivary gland infection not a lymph node inflamed.

I have that video and have watched it, but am looking for personal success stories for this infection.

@jeant.edwqrds7 Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance with finding @Marjory Wildcraft's story. I've tagged her here now so hopefully she can answer your questions.

There are some excellent suggestions for treating salivary glands at (several are herbs that I would choose):

There are other tabs on the page with diet and lifestyle recommendations, too. Something not mentioned is a hot compress. With or without herbs, the compress might help.

@Torey & @jeant.edwqrds7 I remember that story. It was a tooth abscess that she had. Perhaps the story is in the video Alternative to Dentists.

I think the tooth abcess is different than a salivary gland issue, as far as I understand (I could be wrong), and it can be deadly if not caught in time & treated properly.

Jean, Torey is very knowledgeable with herbals. Hopefully while you are waiting on Marjory to chime in, you will be able to find some of the suggestions above helpful.

I hope you can find a useful herbal. I'm certainly not a fan of doctors, but just the same, sometimes a doctor can be the best in certain situations.

So a quick update, it was an allergic reaction to new earrings! She wore an earring on one side and the swelling at the jawline popped up, then she switched to the other side and it popped up there and receded on the other side. After taking them off they both returned to normal. This DIL is highly allergic to everything and this makes sense after she tried switching things around, thanks for all of the comments!

@jeant.edwqrds7 I'm happy to hear that the issue was easily solved. I have allergies to certain metals as well. Nothing swells, but I get itchy bumps like big mosquito bites if I wear glasses with the wrong metal. It appears wherever that metal may touch.

Earrings can be similar, however, that is more reddening around the hole than bumps, a bit of swelling & it is quite painful.
