To you as well, Laurie.
We won't get fireworks tonight due to the fire bans. But that has become the new normal. It has been several years since we were allowed fireworks in the summer.
We were considering doing the "Dominion Day" celebration in Barkerville (Queen Victoria puts in an appearance in this gold rush era semi-ghost town) but the weather isn't promising. I don't feel like wandering around in possible downpours of rain.
The other option is the rodeo and parade but that's far too many people for me!
It will be a quiet day.

That's too bad there's no fireworks. But it is understandable if it is actually too dry. So many places were trying to cancel fireworks for other "reasons" that turned out to not hold water.
I think all are a go-ahead in our area.
The Barkerville celebration sounds creative. Too bad it might rain.
Here it is hot & very humid. This afternoon could see some big storms... and our kids will be with other family sailing on a lake. 🤔
I'd like a rodeo & I usually enjoy parades. Crowds have never bothered me.
A quiet day sounds pleasant.
I'd like to go somewhere (I'm always itching to go somewhere), but with a few bare root trees & shrubs to plant and my help that is slow to get going, I doubt we will go anywhere. 😕

We planted a red wonder apple tree, a red currant, juliet cherry and 3 elderberries (I'm so excited to have them). I have them all shaded as the sun is merciless today. The rest of the plants are smaller and most in pots. Maybe they will get done tomorrow.
We are now going somewhere I had wanted to go today. It will be nice to go for a walk amongst the evergreens & such. We've missed the programming at this location (but that's okay... it's mostly in the sun & I burn easily). Canadian as I might be, I prefer white skin over bright red. 😬
Afterward, we'll come home to see fireworks at the nearby reserve.

Happy Canada to you @LaurieLovesLearning and you @Torey and to any other Canadian members. Have never managed to be with my Canadian family members on this day but I think I would enjoy joining them in one of their celebrations. Though getting together with the "family" can always mean a LOT of people.
Went to one of our family reunions held at Brown's Bay back in 1996. I think they said there was 244 people able to attend and that was just a "few" of the family members. My mother came from a large family. She was second oldest of 11 kids.
Seemed like everywhere we went while we were there someone came up and was introduced as some family member. LOL

@vickeym That sounds like a Mennonite reunion. 😂 They were massive!

@LaurieLovesLearning To my knowledge there are no Mennonites in the family. Just a lot of us. lol It got so complicated, I was taking pictures of attendees at the reunion and I finally just went table and group to table and group asking if they were there for the "family name" reunion. One table was a very friendly bunch with some rather flirty guys (and me back in my early 30's) who when I asked if they were part of the "family name" Reunion said "No Honey, but you can take our pictures anyhow!"
Growing up there were so many people among our friends who called my mother Mom, that we got a phone call one day, someone asked for Mom and they talked for half an hour before the lady realized she had the wrong number. They got on so well she called and talked to my mother for several years afterward.
