Hawthorn is one of my very favorite herbs! Great for heart health and blood pressure. The trees grew all over in western Washington, and I miss that.
If I ever get lucky enough to own property, I'll plant a couple of Hawthorn trees, some Elderberry, and a Comfrey plant right away.

Well, someone has been busy lately, on a DNA testing program with hawthorn in BC. There were only a couple of species listed when I first looked. Last time I looked there were a few more. Now there are 15 named species. Some seem very area specific with their Latin names. Such as C. enderbyensis which only has locations on the plant atlas in/near the community of Enderby and C. shuswapensis which grows in/near the Shuswap Lake region.
This is certainly a herb everyone should know about considering the current prevalence of cardiovascular disease.
