You can also get a single hanger with hooks to stack multiple items. It works very well for shorts, skirts, and other clothing that doesn't need the full height of the closet.

I use a version of this in my own closet.

I wonder if the heaviness of the clothing would bend it like crazy. Probably wouldn't matter unless there's that little sharp edge and then it may put holes in the shirt if it was facing in.
I like those little hack ideas though. I find books at library sales sometimes that have ideas for unusual uses of everyday objects.

@nicksamanda11 I just asked the one son who tried it. He said there is nothing sharp or pokey that will rip the clothes. I guess that the hanger itself keeps that little part from touching any cloth.
He also said they hold a lot.
So, this is one hack that works.
