    When I saw the title, I thought you were going to be talking about Stellaria media. Good lesson for us all to look at the Latin when identifying plants.

    We have several species of Cerastium here in BC although most are not native. I have snow-in-summer in my garden but I can't find much info on any of its medicinal properties. I have more than enough Stellaria to cover all my needs of chickweed, though.

    Yes, I gave up on the taxonomy n this one. Stellaria is the most documented, but 15-20 plants are called chickweed in common usage, being similar. Mouse ear chickweed being very common. I probably should have explained that better. But, the bottom line is that I have no idea if the chickweed that Dioscórides wrote about and the native chickweed the Cherokee used is even lightly related. As confusing as plantain can be, chickweed is even worse!
