    We have Epilobium latifolium here in BC, too, but it is more commonly called Broad-leaved Willowherb here. I’ve never heard the name River Beauty before. Such a lovely flower; I can see how it got that name. In this region it’s at much higher elevations than where I am. I’d have to drive about an hour an a half to get to it.

    I hope to get out and get cattail pollen this year. I’ve harvested it before but have missed the season for the past few years.

    Floating marsh pennywort only grows in the extreme south coast of BC.

    No cogon grass growing here. After reading how flammable it is, I’m glad it hasn’t spread here yet, despite its uses.

    I certainly don’t know enough about the Poaceae family. Something I need to study more.

    Pennywort is fairly common in NC. I'm glad I read about the potential toxicity before trying it!
