As always I learn so very much from Dr. Jones presentations. I look forward to his every time because I know they will be full of great information. And he always makes me laugh!

Good morning Patrick! I was just talking with Kimber - now starting her first year in college headed ultimately to become a vet - and she told me she needed 100 hours of expericen shadowing or otherwise helping in a clinic. Were were wondering if you would like some help in the clinic this August (during her sumemr break) for a week or so?
Kimber loved the time she spent with you a few months ago. OMG, that girl is going to be a vet for sure.
-
We'd be happy to have her Marjory. Plenty of room around here since The Great Jones Kid Diaspora. :0)
-
I'm at 6:56 and laughing so hard I can't hear what Doc is saying lol rof.....
Ok, He already gets a 5 but I'll be back with questions after this concludes.🤣
-
The best explanation I've ever heard about why you need a little black pepper with turmeric!
-
Glad you're enjoying it. I'll try to talk louder on the next one. :0)
Doc
-
Well, you know...those Bio-chem classes they make you sit through in vet school give one a special handle on all this metabolic stuff. :0)

As always, I love Doc Jones as he explains things. Cats are one of my species of pets, so of course I was laughing hard when cat behavior and personalities were discussed. I am already planning to have my cat loving sister watch the presentation later. (Yes, I purchased the summit.)
Is it safe to admit that my personality is somewhat cat like?
-
Thanks for the kind words I'm glad you enjoyed it.
We had a cool wound case with a cat last week. You can read about it on the blog:
-
Ok, this was so information packed I enjoyed it so much and am so happy to know that there is so much we can do for our beloved fur babies so we don't feel so helpless, yet able to recognize when we need more advanced help than what we can do for them. And grateful for the defuser info regarding dogs and the liver damage possible just for breathing in the same room as a difuser.
@PatrickJones Doctor how high is the risk of respiratory aspiration to a cat receiving a tincture, abo etc via syringe to the back of the throat? Cats are my favorite fur companion and I always worry about that when I have had to give, usually an abo, but a tincture or anything via syringe..?
Thank you for your wit and wisdom!!!🙃
-
I forgot I wanted to ask you if the Moringa leaves would be safe for cats?
Thanks for your input.
-
My dogs thank you. You rock.
What about Heartworm prevention and treatment?
-
.1-.2 ml isn't enough fluid volume to cause any aspiration issues. I've not seen any in my years.
-
Wonderful presentation! Question though about tinctures for animals. Is that using alcohol or glycerin to make the tincture for them?
-
I haven't ever used it in cats but from I know about it and have read, it shouldn't be a problem.
-
There is nothing herbal that can be given as a heart worm preventative that would be safe at the dosages and frequency that would be necessary for it to actually work. If you live in a heart worm area, use the prescription meds.
-
Either is fine. Glycerin tastes better but is easily contaminated and will grow bacteria so don't put the dropper in the dog's mouth and then back into the bottle. You can also add powdered herbs to water and syringe them in if they won't eat them mixed with food. Dogs tolerate this pretty well. Cats don't.
-
When my cat would not let me give him meds, I put them on his fur, so he would have to lick them off. If it's bad tasting, mix with cream.
About your cactus poultice. Another way is to buy (Amazon) the prickly pear paddles people feed to tortoises. (No spines on them.) Chop them up whole with a blender - because there's not enough stuff in the middle to scrape, and they are also too tender for that. Can mix that with comfrey and neem salt when applying on the wound.
Would like to buy wound spray to treat old massive spider bite that recurs, but it's not on your site.

I love watching any webinar with Doc Jones in it. I'm lucky he is semi local to me & we'll be meeting him this monday so he can work his magic on our stray cat (fixing). If I had him for all my science classes I would have stayed awake LOL
Thanks for making learning fun Doc.

Yup. you can put purslane or hens n' chicks in a blender like that for burns as well.
Here's the wound spray. Just mix a teaspoon of the poultice tincture with 2-4 oz water in a spray bottle. Links for tincture and spray bottle below:
-
Glad you enjoyed it Alli.
We'll see you and your cat Monday. Poor little rascal...getting fixed and he didn't even know he was broken. :0(
Doc

Well, she :o) is breaking the money bank & the barn is bursting at the seams. Our oldest tom-less cat brought her home last year as a 1/2 dead malnourished kitten, she tricked me into believing she was a he, to my dismay she wasn't. She is a trickster & got knocked up again before weaning her first group, so she's weaning her 2nd group early, so...she's done. I'm so mean I know. ;)
But 10 cats (well, 1 cat & 9 kittens) is way more then I planned for my small barn on top of the 4 I already had. :o) So...you get to fix the little rascal's friskiness before my barn breaks at the seams or the piggy bank does. ;o)
-
Sounds like a god plan. :0)
-
Whoo hoo, moving on intot he evneing now. But this will all replay again next weekend - stay tuned!
-
Thanks much Marjory.
And thanks again to everyone for taking time this week to learn about herbs and the other modalities Marjory has showcased in this summit. Share what you've learned with your families and friends. A few of us can make a difference.
I'll be around a bit longer for questions and I'll get up early tomorrow and answer any additional questions that get posted tonight before the thread shuts down.
Thanks again
Doc Jones

THANK YOU Dr Patrick for this great presentation, and Marjory for hosting this event!!!
I was wandering, when you talk about tinctures, I guess you mean diluted ones (ie 15 drops in a glass of water)?
And about peroxyde in case of poisoning (a lot here in greece), do you give it undiluted??
I would really appreciate more infos about these 2 topics!
Thanks again, and take care!

Another excellent presentation - packed full of useful info

Two last questions for you that came to mind this morning:
Bobcat fever. I hope that in at some point in the future you might do a presentation on 'Bob Cat Fever'. I live in NE OK and I have never heard of it until about 4 years ago. I have been told that the fatalities are huge and the survival is quite small, even when caught and dx early.
