Great presentation, thank you Stephanie!
-
Good morning! This presentation was so good for me. I still have several half gallon jars full of 'flower' that I grew last year, and now want to make into sales and creams. Thanks Stephanie.
-
You're most welcome!
-
Woohoo! So happy this was helpful!
-
Hey everyone! I'll be logging on throughout the day to answer any questions you might have. Post away!
-
Thanks so much! I assume you can use ghee instead of butter for making an infusion as well?
-
@bethanycarpenter2 Yes! In fact, that is traditional in India, I believe! Many believe it makes a better infusion because the end product is more homogenous. :)
-
Hey everyone! My apologies for the coupon code not working. Its fixed now! Use code SUMMIT15 at my online shop to get 15% off any Medicine Making tool that I mentioned in the video!
Head to www.cannabotanicals.net/shop to see both the tools and my small line of CBD herbal formulas!

Hi Stephanie,
SOme of my hafl gallon jars of CBD flowers turned white with some kind of mold. Jimerson was here and said I should just toss it.
I guess I didn't dry it enough 🙃
Then later, another friend who spent a lot of time in Europe said "ah , you Americans are so afraid of mold", and she told me that you could make some amazing stuff with the 'moldy' buds. I didn't get much in terms of details as I was so stunned... LOL
Have you ever heard of that?
-
@Marjory Wildcraft yeah, that sounds like powdery mildew. It's pretty common, and its debated whether or not its okay to use.
Other veggies get powdery mildew and its apparently fine to consume in small amounts. But we don't know the effects if smoked or concentrated. And if you are sensitive/allergic to mold or are in any way immuno-compromised its best to avoid. Sad but true.
Some people say you can "wash" your flower with hydrogen peroxide to remove the PM, although I haven't tried this myself.
In the future, keep your eye out for white PM spots starting to form and cut them or spray with organic fungicides. When storing, make sure your stems snap before you remove the flowers, and ideally store in a glass jar with a Boveda pack set to 62% humidity.

Interesting information. Not yet ready to go there, but I am educating myself. Thank you!
-
@Mary Linda Bittle you're most welcome! Consider me a resource when you're ready to dive in!
-
Can you recommend some good places to buy the cannabus? Also, where can I get seeds so I can grow my own?
-
Thanks!
-
Great presentation!!
-
@Helen Cramer This totally depends where you live. High THC Cannabis isn't accessible to the majority of folks in the U.S. yet, unless you're lucky enough to live in a rec state with retail establishments. If you qualify for a medical program, you can access at a private dispensary. High CBD flower on the other hand is becoming more common! If there is not a hemp farm near you, you can mail order for places like Black Tie and Tweedle Farms in Oregon. Willow Crossing Farm in Vermont also sells across state lines I believe.
Seeds are also tricky. The seed bank I've heard the best reviews of is Sensi Seeds, but there are many others. They're not cheap, and you'll want to go for feminized seeds so that you don't end up with a bunch of males you have to chop.
-
Please tell me the importance of stirring during the combination infusion/decarbing process.
Thx
-
Thanks Stephanie for the great presentation!
-
@Helen Cramer IDK if I should say this but... I happened to have heard is someone who did some research and happened to get seeds from Great Britain... which came in a pair of British socks...👀 the fact that they told me they came like that makes me think that may not be the usual route...

Great presentation! I have recently started looking into cannabis as a medicinal and have been trying to learn as much as possible. It is legal in my state. Wanting to learn how to make my own medicines and not knowing how to start. A friend just gave me some flowers, trimmings and such. Now I know what to do with them.

Hi..at what temperature does the acid part of the plant turn to the and CBD...I live in a very warm part of South Africa and out temperature can get into the + 40°c I grow outside and when I harvert for medicine the drying process is rather rapid i do dry indoors...2-4 days..would this affect the acid part of the plant because I want the thca and cbda
-
Hi there @elaine_ ! Stirring keeps everything in motion, and pushes the oil or alcohol through the plant material. It helps make the extraction more thorough! :)
-
Great question @honeybeenurserysa ! It typically takes around an hour at 110 Celsius. I think a few days at 40 will definitely start to decarb, but won't do it fully. Try to keep it in a dark cool space with good air flow to minimize this from happening!
-
@cannabotanicalsvt Stephanie, I am new to all things cannabis, so hope this is not a stupid question. I see in some oil recipes you use trim. What part of the plant is considered trim?
-
@vickeym trim is when you harvest your plant and there are leaves everywhere that you cut off because people use the buds... seems like such a waste to me!!! I know people who make or sell various products literally throw that part away. My daughter lets her doggie prone to pancreatitis chew of his green leafies and he always gets better so I know it must be worth something! Plus it’s so much work to trim the trim!
-
@cannabotanicalsvt I loved this presentation!! Really took my use of cannabis infusions to a whole other level! I love the simple math and I’m a science geek! My favorite part about nursing school was the A&P!! 💕💕💕 can’t wait to make those ball things yum!! I have used water in a pressure cooker to do oil infusion before and when I saw that green water that smelled like the plant I could not help but think it must be useful for something. I tried internet search but nothing went that deep... I tossed it onto my garden.. but now we know it’s the chlorophyll!! Wow! And I really need to nova... I just loved all the great tips and info of this presentation and the presenter was fantastic!!
