Spent herbs from tinctures and glycerites
Does anyone use these in their compost pile? I've been making a lot of tinctures lately and realized I wasn't sure if the spent herbs could go in the compost or not.

Compost is where I put them but I compost everything. At times, I think my Leila Blu (my house dog) looks at me kinda nervously when I pick up the compost bucket to take it out.LOL

Yes, I compost them, too.

I compost everything also

Yep, we compost em. Sometime the oil/glycerin acts as a mild preservative. I haven't noticed at adverse effect. Sometimes, during certain times of the year. I'll just burying the spent product in the garden. :) Offering and giving thanks to the mother.

With certain spent tinctured herbs, I give them to the chickens.

I compost everything. I made the mistake of putting some spent valerian in an inside trashcan and it drove my cat absolutely crazy trying to get into it. I had to do a quick search to make sure it wasn't toxic to cats and found that it is safe for them and that cats that do not like catnip will love valerian. I now stuff a little in his toys and it makes him super mellow.

Thank you all for this discussion. I had the same question, just never asked.
