Pole Beans
Could someone please recommend a pole bean that has nice full rounded pods? I hate the more flat pods and am disappointed by the varieties of pole beans that I have grown.

I'm with you on that one. I have three different ones planted this year around the place. The only ones that are making a good looking bean are the Rattlesnake beans. Otherwise I'm getting lumpy beans. They look like a blacksnake that has been eating eggs. 🙄
The stringless ones have strings but more like a hair. One that is supposed to have strings has the thickest strings I've ever seen.

I have read articles indicating that perhaps blue lake pole bean seeds had become prone to the "flatness" syndrome. This year I planted 3 different varieties (not blue lake). The descriptions of all said full round pods, but all seem to be flat.

@dottile46 could you post a picture if you get a chance of the rattlesnake? I will be buying new seed as soon as I can.

I had just one of my Blue Lake bean plants produce flat pods this year... I wondered if an errant seed from another variety snuck into the lot! Interesting.

Have you tried Kentucky Blue? I've had good luck with this variety.

I've had great luck with Fortex. I took my chances on another pole bean this year that ended up being extremely stringy. I'm not sure if it was the bean, the weather, or what, but I will going back to planting Fortex next year for sure!

@Janelle Keith thank you for the information. Who do you use as a supplier? I haven't run across Fortex

These are my favorite I always end up with a good crop.

@KimWilson I very highly recommend this bean for a variety of reasons:
