Has anyone read Is it a pesky weed or climate hero ??
The question some biologist are asking--
Is it a pesky weed or climate hero? They are referring to Arabidopsis thaliana.
Since plants are really good at Carbon Dioxide removal, Cory and her team asks, "Why are we building all these fancy machines?
Just wonder what your thought were if you have read this article in Bloomsburg Businessweek , Sept 28, 2020.

@water2world Do you have a link to the article?
-
A link would be great. I can't seem to locate the article.
-
@LaurieLovesLearning Sorry,
I will see if I can find a link, I was just reading the "print version" in the magazine.
-
@Jack_Went_Splat Sorry--- I just read the article in the actual magazine---I will have to see if I can find a link.

Here's the link.

@RustBeltCowgirl Thank you for finding the link quicker than I did!

My biggest concern is that they have already talked to Monsanto. That is a good way to make research disappear.
-
Interesting article. Could be that Monsanto is interested simply because it is a GMO plant and they are experts in that field.
Not sure that GMO anything is a good thing even if it is a carbon reducer. What effect will those GMO plants have on the non-GMO plants in the wild? Will they hybridize causing us to lose the original, non-hybridized, non-GMO'd plant species? A topic for thought. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
I think the film The Need to Grow offers a very sustainable solution to carbon reduction while producing food and power. You might still be able to view it at: https://grow.foodrevolution.org/?orid=125256&opid=314

@RustBeltCowgirl True, Monsanto, imo, doesn't have the best reference!
-
@torey You bring up quite a few interesting points. I enjoy learning about things that have/may have an impact on our lives and reading everything I can--- So many horror stories!
Monsanto's history with biotechnology, genomics, genetically altered seeds, and even it's product--Agent Orange is more than enough for me to watch what will happen.
-
We have already lost so much to genetic modification in the way of nutrients from our food that it scares me to think about what more will do.
-
Regenerative Agricultural is the only large scale way out of climate change. So hoping all of our backyard - small acreage oasis’s of growth can help change the direction were going in
-
@Desiree and @ @AngelaOston I agree!
It will take us all!
