The bigger they are, the bigger the bill
Had an emergency vet call last night. Cigar was having difficulty walking. Vet thinks it's laminitis in his left fore. Banamine twice a day for 7 days and isox twice a day. Stall rest for a week.
At least, I can say he was a perfect gentleman. He happily stood there and munched his soaked hay cubes while the vet did xrays.

I wish you the best of luck with that. Warm compresses 3-4 times per day may help if he continues to be a gentleman!!
-
@RustBeltCowgirl That is never enjoyable, neither the laminitis nor the bill. Let us know how things go.
-
Went back in to the barn. He's up, alert and enjoying his breakfast. Still moving is difficult. Dr. Smith padded his foot really well and he wants extra bedding in his stall. I've picked up 4 bags of compressed large flake shavings to supplement the barn's supply.

@RustBeltCowgirl Good luck with the patient. A vet visit is always upsetting, both emotionally and financially.
-
Oh, I hope things go well! And, yes, a vet visit always comes with a vet bill....
-
@RustBeltCowgirl Your vet sounds amazing! What breed is your horse?

-
He is gorgeous! Wow! I love the little bit of white on his forehead!
-
What a stunning horse. Good luck and I hope he is better soon
-
@RustBeltCowgirl He is a handsome guy! Hope he's better soon.
-
He's doing better. His left fore is not shaking when he puts weight on it. Will text the vet later to see if I can hand walk him in the arena, as his 7 days stall rest is up on Sunday. He hasn't trashed his boot yet. So I leave it on or not?
-
He’s a beauty! @RustBeltCowgirl
-
@COWLOVINGIRL Here's a better pic of his star. Depends on the angle of the picture as to whether you see an arrow pointing up or a horse head.
-
I see it! SO cool!
-
Beautiful. I am so glad he was doing better! It he completely healed now?
-
@RustBeltCowgirl He is a beauty! Is he all better now?🐎😊
