I made my first ........
QUILT and BLOUSE! Yay! I am so excited! I've been on a sewing kick for the past two days and these are the results! I love sewing. Especially sewing my own clothes!

Congratulations @COWLOVINGIRL! Got pics to share?

That's great! I have been saying I'm going to make t-shirt quilts for each of my daughters, but I just keep putting it off. I can sew but I don't enjoy it like you.
-
Fantastic! If you have a chance post pics
I love to quilt. Its relaxing and fun

Congrats!! It is such a rewarding skill to be able to sew and create! I made my first winter, king size quilt with wool batting last year!! So tedious and time consuming... and HEAVY!!! But I loved every minute of it!
-
Sewing is so rewarding. Except when one has to take out a zipper and redo it multiple times. Then it's just downright exasperating! Quilts are so much fun to do. Can't recall the last time I made a blouse. Now I want to get my sewing machine out and sew. :)
-
Did you make a weighted quilt? If so, what materials did you use to weight it?
-
That is awesome! I love sewing and quilting. I don't have time these days, but I enjoy it so much! I would love to see some pictures.
-
@COWLOVINGIRL How exciting! I had a long good career teaching quilting and sewing. It still makes me excited to hear that others are still quilting! I hope to finish up some a few projects one day. It all came to a halt when I got serious about homesteading. A switch in creativity. 😀

@COWLOVINGIRL That's great. What's the next project?
-
Thank you everyone!
@RustBeltCowgirl The next project is one I was working on but then stopped, that I need to get back to. I started making a rag rug! This is something that I really want to learn and master because I LOVE rag rugs and the coziness they add. I have a lot of fabric scraps so I thought this is a good skill to learn now.
-
@COWLOVINGIRL Rag rugs are so amazing. I just love them. I have not made one yet but I think it will be a nighttime "relax" project.
They make so much sense in reusing marerial and I just love how well they hold up. Looking forward to hearing your progress on the rag rug
-
I am working on retiring (in fact just told my boss of my intention), sewing, knitting and crocheting are things I want to learn how to do!
-
@naomi.kohlmeier I did not weight it purposefully. The wool batting gave it a natural weight, which keeps the quilt lying flat and smooth and keeps us snuggly warm! I used heavy weight wool batting.
-
@COWLOVINGIRL congratulations on finishing your projects. I had to look up to find out exactly what a rag rug is and how it’s made. I am working on finishing several different projects myself. One I will probably be working on for a while yet is making crumb blocks and eventually a crumb quilt. I of course have several other projects as well.
-
I'm planning to make a rag rug of sorts. Using recycled grocery bags. Great for outside on the concrete.
-
@COWLOVINGIRL I'm so happy for you. Those sound amazing. You will have to let us know how your rag rug turns out. I have very little experience sewing so a completed project is definitely something I celebrate.
-
MY neighbor made a used grocery bag rag rug and it worked very well. Great for places that get damp and you don't want fabric.
-
Thank you everyone! I am so excited to keep learning!
-
My grandma used to make similar rugs out of bread bags. She'd save enough and then make a rug from them.
-
That's amazing! Congratulations!
-
Thank you @karenjanicki!
