Which Herbal medicine book?
Hi
I'm new to to the Grow Network and would like some help please. Up until now I've relied on online information but believe I now need a book. I tried commenting on the favourite herb books article but it wouldn't let me for some reason.....
I'd like a herbal medicine book recommendation for my specific query - when trying to treat several different chronic illnesses with herbs, I need to know what herbs may interact or react to each other. I don't want to cause myself more harm or have everything cancel each out. The Helios homeopathic website does list which homeopathic remedies should not be given together for such reasons but I can't find anything about herbs online....
All help much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Rosemary

With regards to herbal medicine books there are several discussions under the heading Educational Opportunities & Resources. Just click on the link in the tabs on the right hand side of this page or here is the direct link. In particular, there is a discussion for Trusted Books of Our Herbalist Practitioner Members.

Welcome @rosemarymcnicholl
I was going to refer you to @torey but she posted before I was done. The Educational Books is a great place. You can get lost there for quite some time looking.

Welcome to the group. The folks here are very helpful, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. You will learn a lot and never have to worry about asking a "dumb" question. I have asked plenty and they never make you feel bad or anything for asking or if you get something wrong. They just help figure out what was wrong and why.

@rosemarymcnicholl Welcome to the forum. What you have come up against is exactly what I have trouble with figuring out.
I would have referred you to Torey as well. Her suggestion is good. We also have a certified Ayurveda practitioner on board too @stephanie447. She might also have some great suggestions you.

I always recommend Maria Treben's Health Through God's Pharmacy and Health From God's Garden. I have used them for more than 20 years and I still think they are the absolute best for beginners and beyond. THe book Jolanta Wittib and I co-wrote would be a great second or third choice: Southern Appalachian Herbs: Announcing a New Book, The Herbs and Weeds of Fr. Johannes Künzle
I'm working on a new one right now, which should be out by Oct. It will be for beginners through advanced, with an emphasis on home medicine - for yourself/family.

Welcome @rosemarymcnicholl, on the Home page there is a great article by Scott Sexton on "Our 13 Favorite Books About Herbal Medicine", the article has both pro & cons to each book.

@rosemarymcnicholl a warm welcome also from me. When you have a question about a concrete herb, or some specific chronic illness, do not hesitate asking. There is a lot of experience among us all. And there are many different ways to go towards health. Sometimes it is very useful to hear different opinions.

Hi @rosemarymcnicholl welcome to The Grow Network! Definitely put up a photo of yourself, or something... you don't want to be in the witness protection program do you?
