ANARCHY IS COMING! And it's not what you think...
When the currencies hyper inflates and becomes worthless, Govt's around the world will all collapse within a few months right after that. What Gov't worker will stay on the job when thier monthly pay doesn't even buy a coffee? So what does anarchy look like? Probably a LOT better than you can imagine (after we get through…

Lip Balm Recipes
There are a few recipes posted for lip balms under different categories, but I thought it might be a good idea to have a discussion just for a collection of lip balm recipes. This first one is from a new email from Mountain Rose that arrived in my inbox this morning. Looks like a great Christmas gift idea. I'm making this…

Pfeffernusse/Peppernut Cookies
These are a popular Christmas snacking cookie in Germany & among the Mennonite people. I know them by their Low German name. We cut ours straight across in tiny little "pillows" and didn't glaze them. These were placed out in a bowl for snacking on after having been stored in a jar. They are addictive and go very well with…

New Free Course by the Herbal Academy - The Sensory Approach
The Herbal Academy is offering a short free course, intended to give us a better idea of which herbs to choose for a certain issue or condition. Its somewhat similar to Rosalee de la Foret's Taste of Herbs program in that it discusses the various tastes of herbs and what they indicate. Three videos along with transcripts.…

Broc, Cali and lettuce indoors in dirt under lights
I am growing 6 plants each. I am 70 days into this and about 30 days ago 1 to 2 leaves on half all of these plants started to brown at the tip and eventually fell off. I raised the lights from 18 inches to 24 inches. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Don't believe in electroculture
There has been some discussion of a gardening fad called "electroculture". The idea is that you stick a wire in the ground near the growing plants to serve as an antenna and bring electrical potential to the growing plants. The YouTuber "Garden Like a Viking" did an experiment in his garden, with some plants having these…

Drying bean seeds in humid climate
My bean varieties are relatively rare, so seeds can be hard to buy. I try to save some for seed. I harvested my remaining bean plants around first frost, dumping the entire plants in the garage. The hope was that they would be protected from wetness, and dry to good, usable seeds. But although there's no water in the…

Rifle season & livestock
I posted this on a local forum. I am posting this here too because I know we most likely have a lot of readers (since we are a public forum) who will be new to hunting or may engage in unsafe practices. We had one guy at about 8:45 am today, in a newer (possibly 2017) white Ford F150 crew cab with a white box stop on the…

Life lessons
I have come to realize that there is only one thing I truly understand in life and that is fishing...and fishing usually isn't catching. No matter how much you know, it usually doesn't work out. But, I would still rather be fishing than most anything else.

Design Plans for 2023
Last year I got the idea to come up with a plan from @judsoncarroll4 so I thought I would take the time in winter to create my 2023 plan. It sort of was started by nature, we had a lot of rain in December and after the rain I realized that some Kale seeds and potatoes I planted last year came up! I am hoping that once I…

The mouse problem
It's that time of year when everyone wants to come in out of the cold, and hunker down in a warm house. Unfortunately, "everyone" includes the mice! I had a mouse get into my microgreen growing shelf, despite the fact that it's about 4 ft off the ground with no obvious way to climb up. It must have climbed the power cords…
